Dr. Vineet Talwar

Dr. Vineet Talwar is a Senior Consultant in the Department of Medical Oncology at Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Centre (RGCIRC) in New Delhi. This is an integrated state-of-the-art hospital with all facilities for cancer detection and care, including a Bone Marrow Transplant Unit.

Dr. Talwar independently handles outpatients as well as inpatients at RGCIRC. He represents the institute at outreach clinics and cancer detection camps as Medical Oncologist. RGCIRC is recognised by the National Academy of Medical Sciences for DNB training in Medical Oncology – Dr. Talwar is actively involved in journal clubs, clinical discussions, medical interactive forums, etc., with the DNB Medical Oncology students, and also serves as Thesis Guide for them. He is also actively involved in Oncology updates and clinical drug trials of Phases I, II and III at the institute.

After obtaining the MBBS degree from Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, in 1990, Dr. Vineet Talwar completed his one-year internship at Safdarjang Hospital in New Delhi. He then served as House Physician in the Department of Hematology and Transfusion Medicine at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, from January to June 1992 and March to July 1993. He then spent three years at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi, studying and training for the title of Diplomate of the National Board (DNB) in General Medicine. Dr. Talwar next served as Registrar in the Department of Medical Oncology at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital in Delhi from November 1996 to February 1998. He then trained for the DM (Medical Oncology) degree at the Cancer Institute in Adyar, Chennai, for two years up to March 2000. Dr. Talwar joined the Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute & Research Centre in New Delhi in May 2000 as Associate Consultant. He was promoted to Additional Consultant in July 2003 and Consultant in September 2006, before taking up his current post of Senior Consultant in November 2009.
